Coloring order
- Start with the tall rock cliff holding the Treasury, coloring it widely in reddish orange, and layer shades along the grain of the rock.
- Color the columns, triangular roof and round tower shape carved into the cliff a pale apricot, lighter than the rock around them.
- Last, color the girl's white headscarf and black dress with its red patterns, the jug she holds and the small stones on the ground.
Questions to talk about
- What do you think the girl will carry in her jug, and where is she going?
- What kinds of rooms might be inside a building carved out of rock?
- How would you bring water when going somewhere very hot?
Take it further
Shape a small jug from clay and let it dry, then paint red line patterns on it like the ones on the girl's dress.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
